A little bit of zip is added using pepper flakes. In a large, heavy skillet, brown ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, seasoning salt, and garlic. So this is the recipe that I use for beef stroganoff. Its quick and cheap which is exactly what I need in a recipe.
Steps to make Stroganoff, my way:
- Boil the pasta.
- Brown the beef adding in the Duxelles. Add the spice and herbs to the beef.
- Add the Worcestershire sauce, and butter. When the butter is melted add the flour.
- Incorporate everything in the skillet stirring often till the flour is cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the broth and stir allow to thicken. Remove from heat adding in the sour cream. Stir in well.

So this is the recipe that I use for beef stroganoff. Its quick and cheap which is exactly what I need in a recipe. I have made it three times now and every time my sauce is much too soupy. I tried reducing the beef broth to one cup, upping the flour, upping the sour cream, draining the beef after it's done cooking, and I use much less butter. First of all,stroganoff is the one dish I make for my birthday every year and then I go all out, get the good beef, chop it up and brown it, two or three kinds of mushrooms and cook it like my grandmother and mom did in a slow oven for hours until it was tender and the sour cream sauce was thick and caramelized on top.
